The Municipality of Val-Morin's recreation department and the Club de plein air Val-Morin are offering you a great opportunity to take part in a conference on the safe practice of Nordic skiing. All too often, we still come across skiers on off-piste trails who don't have backpacks. Remember, in the event of an accident, you must be self-sufficient to save yourself. In winter, just 30 minutes of immobility in the snow is enough to put you in danger.
The aim of this evening is to help you prepare for your next Nordic ski outing so that it doesn't end in disaster. Good planning, preparation and risk management are essential. We'll be covering all these topics during this conference.
At the end of the discussion, participants should be able to :- List the dangers associated with Nordic skiing in Wilderness areas;- Draw up a list of minimum and optimum first-aid kits- Make a list of clothes to bring and explain why ;- Draw up a route plan ;- What to do and what not to do in the event of an accident ;-Identify measures in place to facilitate trail emergencies and evacuations (i.e., identify emergency and evacuation measures)- Identify distress beacons, identify lakes, know where to evacuate, etc ;)- Find out about the various SIRIUSMEDx first aid courses for wilderness areas
