Sirius Wilderness Medecine (SIRIUSMEDx) is a Canadian company founded in 1990, specializing in providing medical support services in remote regions. Over the years, we have become the largest provider of wilderness safety training in Canada! Our programs are recognized by national occupational health and safety organizations for remote areas. With a team of over 70 instructors deployed across Canada.

To become a SIRIUSMEDx instuctor, you must first submit your application and meet all the prerequisites. Once a year, we contact selected individuals to complete our selection process to be eligible for our intensive formation, which is offered only once a year, to obtain the SIRIUSMEDx instructor title. Following the completion of this training, you may be assigned to various teaching contracts, based on our needs and your availability.  


Requirements 

  • - Possess a valid 80-hour Wilderness First Responder certification;

  • - Have experience in remote areas, first aid and/or outdoor settings;

  • - Have experience in group management, teaching, pedagogy and/or andragogie; 

  • - Be passionate about care in remote regions and teaching; 

  • Demonstrated adaptability, initiative and resourcefulness.

Working conditions

  • - Considered selft-employed ; 

  • - Opportunity to provide trainning for SIRIUSMEDx and/or  training organized under your own name;

  • - Relevant training programs tailored to various client needs; 

  • - Participation in the annual instructors seminar to exchange theoretical knowledge, engage in practical activities, and attend conferences;
    - Reimbursement of the majority of expenses during training.


Regarding the intensive training  

  • - Several consecutive days of in-person training at our offices in Sainte-Adèle;

  • - Preparatory meetings and documentation  prior to the training, conducted virtually, totaling approximately 16 hours; 

  • - The cost of the training includes all specialized instructional materials, lunch meals, training materials, first aid supplies and equipment, access to the encyclopedia, and the instructor platform, etc. 

  • - Training is conducted in French



Contracts  

Our teaching contracts depend on demand. It will be possible to teach our first aid courses of 20 hours, 40 hours, 50 hours, 80 hours, and our specialized courses, depending on your experience.

Remuneration 

 Daily fees are graded in a fee schedule, with level 1 starting at $200 per day during the probationary period and the highest level at $350.
